TNPSC Group 1 vs Group 2: Which should a first-time aspirant target?

I am appearing for TNPSC for the first time. Should I start with Group 2 or directly aim for Group 1? How different is the syllabus and difficulty level? Is attempting Group 2 first a good way to understand the exam pattern before targeting Group 1?

Start by targeting Group 1 if you can commit fully — the syllabus is broader but the posts (Dy. Collector/DSP) are worth it, and Group 2 prep is largely a subset. If you want a faster, surer result, Group 2/2A is a great first win and teaches you the TNPSC pattern. Many do Group 2 first, then Group 1.
