Recommended books for BPSC Mains General Hindi paper

The General Hindi paper in BPSC Mains is compulsory and I have been told it is quite scoring. What books should I refer to for grammar, essay, and comprehension sections? Any specific patterns in the essay topics asked in recent years?

General Hindi is the easiest scoring paper if you do not ignore it. Use "Samanya Hindi" by Hardev Bahri or the Lucent General Hindi. Practice nibandh (essay), patra-lekhan, and vyakaran from PYQs — essay topics are usually social/administrative, not literary.
