Is MPPSC Prelims cut-off really that unpredictable? How to set realistic targets?

I have heard that MPPSC Prelims cut-off varies wildly from year to year. One year it was 75 and another year it jumped to 95. How do I set a target score for safe selection? What factors drive these fluctuations in cut-off?

The volatility is real and driven by paper difficulty + number of vacancies + reservation-category dynamics that year. Do not chase a fixed number — aim to be in the top band of your mock-test cohort (consistently 100+/200 in good mocks). That relative safety matters more than any predicted cut-off.
