CGPSC Mains 2025–26: Where Things Stand
The Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC) conducted the State Service Examination (SSE) Mains 2025–26 from June 6 to June 9, 2026. The exam was originally slated for May but the dates were officially revised. Mains is the second stage of CGPSC SSE — taken by candidates who clear the objective Prelims — and is the stage that actually counts toward the final merit list, alongside the Interview. It is the gateway to posts such as Deputy Collector, DSP, Naib Tehsildar, and other Class I and Class II positions in the Chhattisgarh state administration.

How Prelims Feeds Into Mains
CGPSC Prelims is a two-paper objective screen: Paper I (General Studies) and Paper II (Aptitude Test), each with 100 questions for 200 marks. Prelims is purely a qualifying filter — those marks do not carry into the final merit. Mains and the Interview decide the final ranking. That makes Mains the stage where the real competition happens: the same candidates who memorised facts for Prelims now have to articulate them under a three-hour-per-paper time pressure.
What Comes Next
- Answer-sheet evaluation: CGPSC sends the descriptive papers for evaluation — historically this takes a few months before Mains results are declared.
- Mains result + cut-off: Candidates clearing the Mains cut-off are shortlisted for the Interview (Personality Test).
- Interview / Personality Test: The final stage, carrying a separate block of marks added to the Mains score.
- Final merit list = Mains marks + Interview marks. Prelims marks are not added.
